P.J. Thompson is Assistant Professor of studio art in the Center for Art and Media at Goucher College since 2000. She completed her M.F.A. at the University of Maryland in 1991 after earning her B.F.A. from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. Ms. Thompson specializes in applied design as well as fine art for which she has received awards such as the Xerox Corporation in graphic design and the Maryland State Arts Council in sculpture. Her sculptural installations and drawings have been shown at the Washington Women’s Art Center, Corcoran Gallery, Washington D.C, the Fuller Craft Museum, Massachusetts, the Allcott Gallery, University of North Carolina, and the International Contemporary Fabrikart Grup during an artist residency in Ürgüp, Turkey. She has taught studio courses at University of Maryland and Stevenson University and was a visiting artist at Corcoran College of Art and Design and Maryland Institute College of Art. Her courses focus on how artists develop ideas through exploring diverse mediums in two and three dimensions.
